Conference Paper Types
There are two different types of conference paper:
- ARCOM indexed paper: The indexed paper format typically covers papers that the authors feel are ready for publication. If your ARCOM indexed paper is accepted for presentation at the conference by the ARCOM Scientific Committee, it will be included in the digital conference proceedings. It will also be indexed in the ARCOM Abstracts database and Scopus, which could affect your H-index. If you are thinking of also submitting your paper to a peer-reviewed journal in future, you would very likely be expected to develop and modify the paper significantly.
- ARCOM working paper: The working paper format typically covers papers that the authors feel are not yet ready for publication or papers where further community feedback is felt to be useful. The format is often used by authors to develop ideas without risking the work being later being identified by publishers as having been ‘previously published’. This ensures that ideas developed and tested in a working paper can subsequently be submitted to publishers as an original 'article' without being regarded as ‘…having previously published’. Your ARCOM working paper will not be included in the ARCOM Abstracts database or in the Scopus index, and so will not affect your H-index. As an unpublished paper, you are free to submit your paper to a peer-reviewed journal, but we would encourage you to acknowledge that the paper was first presented at the ARCOM Conference.
How do I change my paper type?
If you need to change the paper type after you have submitted your abstract, please contact us at conference@arcom.ac.uk before the end of July.
During early August, the proceedings will be compiled ready for publication in September/October.
It is NOT possible to change the paper type once the proceedings have been compiled.
